Today, I got to meet with to boys who were rescued from Haiti recently at church to legally come here for a better life. Both are suffered with vitamin D deficiency and blindness due to malfunction. Through all the years I have traveled and experienced, this is so far the most extreme condition of a human being that I have ever seen. Yet, they are just very humble in their own little world, singing and smiling to all those around them. This makes me appreciate my life and the privilege of getting to go places and to see so so much more.
I am reminded of my trip to Myanmar last year which has left me with lots of thoughts through seeing the world before industrialization. I am reminded of being able to visit home and see places that are so dear to me, yet there is always something new to it each time I come. All of these make me excited for what is there ahead of me for this upcoming trip because I learn that no matter where I go, I learn a new thing from all these places and the beauty of it is not only from what can be seen visibly.
