I must admit I am a really big foodie. One of my most important goals of life is traveling for good food.
This morning I got up and find out I still have some time to spend before I jump on the train to Hualien. Therefor, Sandy and I got together and had the authentic Taiwanese food, Braised pork rice. I saw it in many Taiwanese dramas, and I finally got to taste it in person and loved it.
My train was at 11:55 am and it only stopped for about five minutes for each stop. Hualien is on the east cost of the island and the train runs right by the bay, so I could see the Pacific Ocean when I was on the train. On the other side of the rail track was the natural forest. Though it was raining a little bit, it was still beautiful and looked like a wonder world.
I booked my bed in a B&B. Since it is still slack season for vacations in China, I have the entire room for myself. The bicycles in the house were free to use, so I got one and just rode alone the main street in town with a popular restaurant map. At the end of the street, there was the bay and another night market. It was still early when I arrived at the market and a lot of shops were still not open, so I rode a little bit further and hanged out around the shore. When the night came, the lights at DongDaMen Night Market came too, brightening up the street.
I couldn’t remember how much I ate at the end of the day, but I’m sure I’ll gain some weight at the end of this trip.
