Today was another memory that will never be forgotten. The day began with a business visit to Royal Haskoning, a engineering firm in Saigon District 10, which deals with buildings, transportation, maritime a wanted treatment project around the world. It was really cool to see projects that they have worked on and are currently working on to improve the infrastructure of a country that is still in the development stages. As a logistics major, this is a company that I could really see myself working for, they have roots all around the world so the options are nearly endless. Tomorrow we are going a microbrewery, one of their many projects.
Around 3:30 some of the students arrived at the hotel to pick up Brandon, Courtney and I to take us around the city on the back of their motor bikes. If you want to experience Saigon for what it really is, do it on the back of a motorbike in the middle of the chaos. I don’t know if I have ever been so happy to feel as though I was going to get in a wreck but it’s all part of the experience. They took us to temples, Vietnamese ice cream, and even to dinner later in the eveing. It is amazing how welcoming they have been to strangers, definitely something you don’t find in America.
This trip has been full of memories and new friends and I am actually kinda sad to be moving on to a new country and leaving all the wonderful people of Saigon. Tomorrow is a new day, we are going to the Microbrewery and to Cu Chi to explore the tunnels that the Viet Cong used during the Vietnam/American War. Stay tuned, the trip is only still begining. Until next time.
