Day 6 In transit
Quick day calls for a quick post. We woke up early to get to Singapore. I heard from some friends I would love it and it very much turned out to be true. I get bored easy, and often meeting new people and new places is the only thing that excites me. I don’t always try to assimilate to where I’m at in the states, mostly because I don’t care about what everyone else does or thinks is right. I have my own compass. So when I travel I always end up making new and exciting friends. I say this because while Singapore may have many rules, it is a country where all faiths and peoples are welcome. All are welcome to worship their God, gods, or no god at all. All live together in commingled communities as mandated by law. So while there is a Chinese district there must be Indians and Anglo Saxons living there too. Proximity to others teaches tolerance. The food centers have all kinds of food to attract all kinds of people. Because the government here knows the more time people spend around one another the more desensitized they will become. What a beautiful thing! I spoke with a taxi driver and he told me, no matter the religion whenever there is a Holiday the whole country celebrates. Sometimes we get it so wrong as people. As if what color, religion, or nationality matters. We are all human before anything else. The rest is learned by society and family. Singapore was a beautiful multi-cultural city, and what a great place. A place where you don’t have to believe anything but are free to believe everything.
