Courtney, Brandon, Lucas and I woke up early and met up at 8 am to check out the hotel and walk to a local breakfast restaurant that was recommended on Yelp. It took almost an hour and a half to get there. Marie caught up with us after at the restaurant and we walked together after to a business district in the area. We went shopping for a little bit then took 2 cabs to go to the Singapore Flyer where me, Marie and Lucas decided to do it together. We paid approximately 30 dollars for 30 minutes. The experience was worth it. I loved seeing the city both by morning and by night and capturing the view. Here are some pictures of the awesome view we got:
After the Singapore Flyer, we went to Little India for lunch. It was a little colorful town with good food and good company. We took 2 cabs to go to Gardens by the Bay after. Our 2 groups got lost because the driver mistakenly took me, Marie and Courtney to Botanical Garden instead of Gardens by the Bay. We walked around to different entrances at the Botanical Garden to look for Brandon and Lucas but could not find them. We did not realize that Botanical Garden and Gardens by the Bay are two completely different attractions until about an hour after and had to take the cab again to meet up with them. By the time we got there, it was almost time to be back to go to the airport so we took the MRT back to the hotel.
30+ hours in Singapore is not enough to fully experience this beautiful country but I enjoyed it while it lasted. Though it is a great place to visit, I do not think that I would enjoy living there in the long-term if I had the chance because of the many laws and restrictions that Singapore enforces. One of the taxi drivers told me that people there get fined very easily and quite often. That makes me feel uncomfortable to imagine living in a society that I am being watched almost all the time. I personally had some people cut the line and just pumped into me without saying anything. Strict rules and laws have allowed the country to develop the way it has planned, but it might have also negatively affect areas where rules and laws do not cover.
