May 28 –
Day 7 was full of learning and experiencing the Sri Lankan culture. We saw so many wild animals, including an elephant, monkeys, and a land monitor. First we drove up a mountain and got to see to Kandy (the hill city of Sri Lanka). The next thing we did was visit a gem shop and learned more about the mining and polishing process – I even got to wear the biggest gem they had in the show room! Sri Lanka is known for their gems and is even known as the gem of the Indian Ocean! Next, we visited a batik factory and watched them make different types of designs – we even got to try some of the outfits on like the locals! Then we ate lunch at a spice garden and learned more about osteopathic medicine (the use of herbal remedies). Finally, we climbed a mountain and visited the Dambulla Cave Temple (a Buddhist temple). Now, we are all relaxing at the hotel sitting pool-side with full bellies listening to live music. Goodnight world ☺️
