So this morning I woke up and was able to eat a delicious omelet with bacon. I swear the bacon here is better than any I’ve had in America. After breakfast we visited a jewel factory, a spice factory, and a fabric dye factory. We learned about how many different beautiful minerals are found deep in the jewel mines such as the blue and star sapphire. Also, Sri Lanka grows many spices that are good for cooking and also for medicinal purposes. We were able to try samples of these. At the fabric dyeing factory, we saw how the people had designed pictures and designs into the fabric and then dyed them. I bought a small tapestry with an elephant on it for one of my friends back home. After lunch we went to a cave temple that is one of the largest temples. It had beautiful paintings and sculptures of Buddha that were made in B.C. Then we checked into our hotel, cooled off in the pool, ate dinner, had a few drinks, and now I’m typing this blog about to head to bed. Goodnight Sri Lanka!
