We have a schedule that is going to watch the water puppet show in the world-famous Thang Long Water Puppet Theatre in Hanoi. This art form can date back to the 11th century. The shows are performed in a pool of water as the stage of puppets. The puppets are controlled by puppeteers hiding behind a screen. The show is considered to be one of the cultural highlights of Northern Vietnam.
In China, there is a similar art form called “shadow play”, which is very popular in China until now. The shadow puppets are made of paper. And the puppets are also held between a source of light and a screen.
