Today we awoke early to eat the hotel breakfast (very good,) before departing to visit the University of Economics Ho Chi Minh City. It is regarded as the best business school in the area and is hoping to obtain AACSB accreditation by 2020. Three faculty members presented about their university and then we presented about Missouri State. They were very interested in pursuing a student exchange relationship with MSU, if the curriculum matches. Afterward, we traveled to The American Center in order to meet with two United States Diplomats. One spoke for quite some time with us regarding Vietnam, the culture, and some challenges the people here face, or will be facing soon. Once done, we traveled to Dobla Chocolate Factory, a leader in their industry. The plant manager presented to us about their business, then we took a tour of their facility. Their plant is kept very clean, and is run efficiently. After touring, they allowed us to try to make our own chocolate decorations! Some of us did well, but I failed. The company sent us with a box of Belgium chocolates, made right here in Vietnam. On the way back to HCMC we stopped at a street-side market where we were able to try some fresh fruits and bargain. We then arrived at a restaurant with a very cool concept. It is filled with different venders of street-food-style foods, and a waiter takes you around the whole building. You pick what you want. After touring, you sit down and they serve you as a typical restaurant. The food was very good, and I was able to try my first snail! We then stopped in at a local coffee shop to have some famous Vietnamese milk coffee. I met up with a couple of others to go to Backpacker Street, an area filled with bars and clubs. With ten million locals in the city, this area is known for partying. It was a cool experience to see people going from bar to bar. Finally, we returned to the hotel.
