The day started incredibly early with our flight from Bangkok to Paro, Bhutan. We stopped in India to let some passengers off and pick some up. Entering Bhutan was easier than what I thought it would be; it was a very small international airport. Immediately, the climate was so much better. It was about 65 degrees. Compared to 90-100 degrees, this was very appreciated. Upon arrival, we met our guide for our Bhutan stay, Karma, and driver. They are both very nice and speak English well. We loaded the van and drove about 2 hours to a restaurant in Bhutan’s capital, Thimphu. After eating, we checked into our hotel in the heart of Thimphu. After resting, we met with Karma and walked around the city. I purchased a SIM card for reliable Internet access and then toured the Post Office. The Post Office here doubles as a museum, showcasing parts of Bhutanese history. We then went to a gift shop and headed back to the hotel. We rested and ate an awesome supper: chicken with brown gravy, potatoes and cheese, sweet corn soup, vegetable salad, vegetable medley, pasta, and rice, among other things. After supper, we retired to our rooms to get rested for the day ahead.
