Today has been a busy day with several tours around Hanoi. We first visited the presidents palace and got to learn the history of President Ho Chi Minh that lived and worked there. Located by the presidents palace was the One Pillar Pagoda which is a beautiful Buddhist temple. The One Pillar Pagoda was one of my favorite places visited because of the beautiful architecture built to resemble a lotus flower. Next we got to tour the oldest university in Hanoi which had lots of history and memorials of well known people from Vietnam. After touring the university we went on my favorite tour of the day which was the Hoa Lo Prison also called Hilton Hotel. This prison was so interesting and full of so much history. The Hilton Hotel was originally owned by French colonist to keep Vietnam political prisoners and later was owned by Vietnam and used to keep American soldiers during the war. I loved reading about all the history from the Vietnam perspective about the war. Later in the day we got some free time to explore, shop, and try egg coffee which was surprisingly good.
