After many hours of travel and a few different time zone changes we finally made it to Fiji. Like most of my peers will probably talk about we ended up getting caught in a category three tropical cyclone – later named Tropical Cyclone Sarai. Luckily, a few of us were able to get out of the hotel to grab a quick bite to eat at a place called Awesome Grill before the weather got worse. Britney and I shared a pizza and that is the moment I knew Fijian food was going to be much different than American food. For instance, the main difference was the sauce being a sweeter tomato paste compared to salty and savory in the states. Overall, I was impressed by the restaurant especially since all their ingredients were grown in their backyard!
