So originally today we were supposed to go on the Great Ocean Road trip, but due to the chances of rain we decided to switched the schedule around. That being said, we visited Ballarat Wildlife Park and my heart melted seeing those animals. With all the animals perishing in the fires seeing and interacting with the koalas, wallabies, kangaroos, etc. made me want to fight for them even more. Fight for their protection as animals, we are the stewards of the land and sea and to be honest we haven’t done the best job. It’s made me appreciate conservation biology and the job ecologists do way more. I (along with a few others on the trip) have started using our social media platforms as a way to spread awareness about the bushfires here in Australia and how others can help donate, raise money, adopt and animal, and more. I think this was a highlight of the trip too; we came as students and will be leaving as advocates.
