On day 3 in Cairns we went to the Kuranda Rainforest. We took the scenic railway train up to the village. Being on the train and learning about the history of how to railroad was built and used was very interesting. The train went around some crazy curves on the side of the mountain so that was both cool and a little nerve racking. When we got to the village I spent a couple of hours shopping. I also got to hold a koala which was the most amazing thing. It was like holding a living teddy bear! Unfortunately we were in a rainforest and we experienced quite the downpour and the skyrail we were supposed to go down the mountain on was cancelled because of lighting. Instead of waiting for the craziness of people trying to go down the mountain on busses some of us got an Uber to go back to the hotel. Holding the koala was one of the best things on the trip for me!
