Theatre and Dance Department Hosts Virtual Program Auditions

In preparation for the 2021-2022 school year, the Theatre and Dance department has moved its program audition process entirely online. Using the program Acceptd, students will be able to submit videos or portfolios as well as scheduling a virtual audition and interview. This is a multi-step process that can be found below, as well as on the Theatre and Dance Program Audition page.

How to Apply for a BFA Interview/Audition

To clarify, all potential BFA students must interview and/or audition. BA or BS students should still apply with Acceptd, but are not required to interview. A list of all undergraduate programs can be found on the Theatre and Dance program catalog.

Step One: Apply to Missouri State University

All students must complete the general university application which can be found on the Missouri State website.

Step Two: Apply for your Program

Using Acceptd, students must apply for their specific program and submit whatever materials are required for prescreening. Here, students can also find the material they need to prepare for their audition. Materials for all programs are due by February 8, 2021 or two weeks before the scheduled audition, whichever comes first.

Step Three: Complete Your Virtual Audition and/or Interview

There will be several opportunities for students to audition over the following days and times:

*January 8: Noon – 5:00 p.m.

*January 9: 10:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m.

January 15: Noon – 5:00 p.m.

January 16: 10:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m.

January 22: Noon – 5:00 p.m.

January 23: 10:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m.

January 29: Noon – 5:00 p.m.

January 30: 10:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m.

February 5: Noon – 5:00 p.m.

February 6: 10:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m.

February 20: 10:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m.

*Please note that January 8-9 are days reserved for transfer students. Any transfer student wishing to begin classes in January 2021 must submit a video audition by November 15, 2020.

Other Virtual Recruitment Locations and Dates:

Missouri State will be participating in the following outside virtual recruitment events, but students must apply with the sponsoring organization.

TX Thespians: October 24, November 7, November 21, December 5

CAP: November 12-15

Moonifieds: November 17-24

MO Thespians: January 21-23

Arkansas Thespians: February 13-15

USITT: March 10-13
