“Society does not move on its own; it has to be pushed.”
– Augusto Boal
Giving Voice, Missouri State University’s troupe dedicated to diversity and empowerment, is holding auditions to gain new members! This theatre-based group is an “organization at Missouri State University that strives to represent the challenges of underrepresented, marginalized, and oppressed persons. Through a series of workshops and presentations, under the direction of Dr. Carol J. Maples, Giving Voice assists leaders in the academic, business, and community fields to address issues of oppression, microaggression, and discrimination. This training, led by a facilitator and the actors, offers opportunities for workshop participants to discuss how to approach these situations, as well as creating a safe environment to try out solutions.” You can check out their official page here https://givingvoice.missouristate.edu/, and see them in action here https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FpqQ2ZtO-YA&feature=emb_logo.
