This week’s Student Spotlight is over the hilarious and creative Riley Lathrom!

Riley Lathrom is a senior in the Bachelor of Fine Arts Design, Technology, and Stage Management program with an emphasis in Scenic Design. Her credits with the theatre and dance Mainstages includes Assistant Stage Manager for The Rimers of Eldritch; Assistant Scenic Designer for CATS and The Secret Garden; and Scenic Designer for These Shining Lives, Working: A Musical, Much Ado About Nothing, and Baltimore. Additional credits of hers include Scenic Designer for Hand To God with Tabula Rasa and Assistant Scenic Designer and Paint Charge for Tent Theatre’s 2021 season. She was also recently recognized as the 2022 recipient of USITT YDMT Bernard R. Works Master Crafts Award in scenic painting for her outstanding breadth of work.
Wow! She has truly made the most of her time here at Missouri State!
When asked about Riley’s work ethic, all of her peers only had amazing things to say. One stated, “Riley is one of the hardest working people I know. Not only has she been a Resident Assistant for the last three years, she has managed to work on multiple Mainstages and create beautiful designs.” Another said, “Riley has an incredible work ethic. She is truly passionate about design, and this is reflected in her work. She is so deserving of every bit of praise.”
Outside of school, her friends shared they truly cherish every moment with her. One friend shared that one of their favorite memories of college was going to see Waitress with Riley at Juanita K. Hammons Hall for the Performing Arts- “We had so much fun watching the show together and cracking jokes. It’s one of my favorite college memories. We love you, Riley!” Another friend shared that “Riley frequently makes jokes that she’s going to ‘steal’ me from my boyfriend. And I have to say… she just might. On opening night of Much Ado About Nothing, Riley and I went together, and I gave her a rose!”
Congratulations, Riley, on all of your personal and academic success!
