It’s a life- it’s a style- it’s a need- it’s… Burlesque!
Incorporating songs from the acclaimed musical film, as well as original student choreography, MO State Dance Co.’s (MSDC) first show of the semester, Burlesque, will be unlike any other! Organized by Co-Fundraising Chairs Hattie Geltemeyer and Kelsey Zimmerman, this show is going to bring you everything you love about dance, jazz, rhythm, the original movie, and more. Each performance consists of popular songs and original mixes that students in and outside of the Dance program have choreographed group-numbers to. The show is hosted by T&D alum Stella Luna, who makes every performance an event, so you know it’s going to be top notch.
These shows every semester also serve as MSDC’s largest fundraising events because of their popularity and success. Hattie and Kelsey shared that, “This is our third show as MSDC Fundraising Co-Chairs, and every show just makes us love it more and more. Watching all of the dances develop, and watching the show itself grow from a little idea we talked about in Kelsey’s bedroom at 2am to an entire show is the coolest thing in the world. We love dancing with our friends and meeting new friends through dance, so getting to do that while also directing and choreographing makes us so happy. After every show we’ve choreographed, we’ve sat down together and just happy screamed about what we just accomplished and how proud we are of both ourselves and every single person involved in the process. It’s just so fun and heartwarming.”
When asked why audiences should come watch, they stated that “Audiences should come see this show for so many reasons. The cast is incredible, you’ll see lots of familiar faces and some new faces that you’ll love just the same, and every single performer and dancer is~ for lack of better term~ just absolutely sickening. Every performer has worked so hard over the past month to put this together, and I am so proud of the work we’ve done. It’s an amazing show, and you absolutely will not be disappointed.”
That’s all the convincing I need!
