This week’s Student Spotlight is over the incredible and hilarious Julia Makarsky!

Julia Makarsky is a senior in the Bachelor of Arts Theatre program with a Screenwriting minor. Her credits include Carole Luftig in The Clinic with Tabula Rasa, Performer in The Shit Show with UCYA, Woman 2 in The Women of Lockerbie and Dramaturg for Carrie the Musical with Laboratory Theatre Company, Assistant Stage Manager of Everybody with T&D Mainstages, Co-Director and Writer of the original web series The Pledge, Host and Producer of 36 Questions: An Interactive Experience, Co-President of Tabula Rasa Production Company, Co-Chair of the Theatre Career Planning Committee for the BA/BS Theatre programs, and President of the MSU Women in Film Club.
Wow! Julia is one truly involved student and devoted to her craft.
When asked about her work ethic, her peers stated that she always goes above and beyond. One said, “Julia is such a visionary with her ideas for projects, and then, on top of all that, she has the initiative to execute those plans! She is a leader of so many committees and organizations and is able to dedicate herself to all of them so effectively. She certainly served as a leader in the cast of LTC’s The Women of Lockerbie; she was exemplary in her dialect work, her attention to memorization, her superb professionalism in rehearsals, and most of all, her presence and power onstage.”
Outside of school, her friends had absolutely glorifying things to say. “I have been friends with Julia since freshmen year, and I’ve loved every minute of it. She’s so funny, and so talented, and really such an involved person. She’s a part of so much and has leadership positions in all of them. It blows my mind.” Another friend shared, “I have lived with Julia for three years, so we have lots of memories of watching really fantastic and really awful movies/TV and making fun of them together! We sing to each other in Italian sometimes, and we love playing with our apartment cats because they enjoy joining the chaos. We have been there for each other through life’s bad moments and through our biggest successes! She is truly a wonderful friend who understands me so well and is always there for me. I have no doubt in my mind that her future will be stunningly bright, and she will earn so many dazzling personal achievements! Oh, and she’s one of the funniest people I’ve ever met.”
Congratulations, Julia, on all of your personal and academic success!
