With the end of the 2022 fall semester on the horizon, we want to take a moment to appreciate the hard-working people who have dedicated their time and creativity to the production of some amazing live theatre this year.
Without the multitude of design teams, technical crews, cast members, and directors that put in countless hours to bring our productions to the stage, all of our artistic endeavors would not be possible.
The T&D Department saw three main stage productions this semester, not including the surplus of student organizational work happening outside of that. We started the semester off with a dazzling performance of Men on Boats, continuing with The Last Days of Judas Iscariot, and ending just recently with our production of Dreamland. Amidst the academic season, we also got to experience a marvelous Tent Theatre performance of Crazy for You.
While these productions took place, student organizations such as Laboratory Theatre Company have been working in rehearsal for their semester show, Lonely Planet, which will be hitting the stage December 2nd. Alongside LTC, student production company Tabula Rasa put on a showcase of completely original, student-written one acts.
And through many obstacles and delay, this semester also saw the finalizing of construction on the hihgly-anticipated John Goodman Amphitheatre, which will house next year’s Tent Theatre season.
Without a doubt, the commitment of all parties involved in our department showcases the amount of love and commitment our faculty and students have for the arts.
We are beyond excited for the spring semester, and hope that all those involved in our department are proud of the work they have done and will continue to do through their time at MSU.
