This week’s student spotlight is over the delightful Sarah Hinkson!

Sarah Hinkson is a junior here at Missouri State pursuing a B.S. Theatre Major with a minor in Spanish. Sarah is credited as co-President of Tabula Rasa Production Company, member of the Missouri State Improv team, and also works in the T&D Marketing office. During her time at MSU, Sarah has portrayed the role of Hattie in LTC’s The Women of Lockerbie the role of She in the Directing II one act I Dream Before I Take the Stand and is currently working as the Dramaturg for our department’s upcoming production of Sweat, along with many more theatrical and academic feats. Outside of her university achievements, Sarah has a kind soul, and is a pleasure to be around.
Sarah’s peers have all good things to say about her. When asked about her work ethic, one of them contended, “Sarah is an extremely hard worker who gives her absolute all into the work she does. While I’ve only had the opportunity to work with her on one show, it is evident she is a true professional.” This reigns true with her involvement in all theatrical settings; working as a cast member, crew member, or co-President of a production company. In all instances in and outside of our department, Sarah is known to be “always thoughtful, well versed, and just an overall good person to be around.”
Many of Sarah’s peers have collaborated with her during the production process, as evident by her well-rounded involvement in the department. When asked about the experience they had while working with her, one peer stated, “It was an incredible honor to be able to work with her and direct her. There are not enough words to express how much of a good person she is.” On the improv team, Sarah is “a joy to be around. She is an incredibly lovely person, inside and out. She treats all those around her with kindness, is always open to collaboration with her peers, and knows how to make a person feel comfortable as part of a team.” It seems like Sarah has made quite the impact on those around her. It is impossible to describe how her personality lights up a room, and those who have had the pleasure of making her acquaintance are undoubtedly aware of how lucky they are.
Congrats, Sarah, on all your academic and personal success. We can’t wait to see the hard work you put into the department this year.
