Professors Les Reid, Steven Senger, Xingping Sun, and Jorge Rebaza have been awarded a $293,661 grant by the National Science Foundation (NSF) for their Research Experiences for Undergraduates (REU) program. Each summer semester of 2016, 2017, and 2018 they will be bringing twelve talented undergraduates from across the nation to our MSU campus and get them involved in high-quality research projects in different areas of pure and applied mathematics This is one of the best ways to attract and retain talented undergraduate students in STEM fields, by involving them in direct interaction with a diverse group of students and experienced faculty mentors. REU participants will be provided meal and travel allowance, on-campus housing, and a stipend $4,000.
