A strong foundation is important for many things, and creative work is no exception. Each year, the Annual Foundations Exhibition demonstrates the formative artwork completed by students in the Art + Design Department’s foundations courses. The exhibition is on view in Brick City Gallery January 27 – February 10 and will be open for First Friday Art Walk February 3 from 6-9 p.m.

The exhibition features student work from all art foundation courses, including 2D Design (ART 100), 3D Design (ART 101), Drawing 1 (ART 115), and Introduction to New Media (ART 110). These introductory studio classes are required for all studio art, design, and art education majors, as well as art minors, studying in the Art + Design Department. “These works focus on formal studies of the elements and principles of art and design while also giving students a wide variety of media to learn,” Megan Frauenhoffer, Art + Design Foundations Coordinator, explains.
Instructors select standout works from each of their classes to be featured. The following students have artwork in this year’s exhibition:
