The department of theatre and dance at Missouri State University celebrates its 2016-17 season with a lineup featuring six shows at Balcony Theatre and Coger Theatre in Craig Hall.
The season begins with “Ballad Hunter” on Sept. 22 and concludes with the annual Spring Dance Concert on May 7.

“Ballad Hunter” takes place in rural Appalachia during 1937. It’s a journey through love, loneliness and love once more, creating an emotional story about the crucial need for honesty amongst family.
“Legally Blonde”
Oct. 13-15 and 17 at 7:30 p.m.

“Legally Blonde” takes popular stereotypes and reveals them as nothing more than predetermined labels that can be broken — if we have the courage to do so.
“Angels in America, Part 1: The Millennium Approaches”

“Angels in America, Part 1: Millennium Approaches” is a mature production that exposes serious topics such as AIDS, infidelity, drug exposure and religion.
“Clybourne Park”
Feb. 23-24, Feb. 27-March 3 and March 6 at 7:30 p.m.

Craig Hall Balcony Theatre
“Clybourne Park” provides a glimpse into the Chicago neighborhood on the verge of integration, first in 1959 and then 50 years later, revealing the deeply entrenched attitudes that still divide the country.
“A Little Night Music”
April 6-8 at 7:30 p.m.
April 9 at 2:30 p.m.

Set in Sweden around 1900, “A Little Night Music” centers on the tangled love affairs of several couples who have gathered for a weekend at a lavish country estate.
“Spring Dance Concert: Movement in Flux”
May 4-6 at 7:30 p.m.

The art form of dance constantly moves, shifts, flows and changes from one idea to the next. The spring dance concert, “Movement in Flux,” celebrates the fluid and transient nature of dance.

Tickets for all productions, except “Legally Blonde” and “A Little Night Music,” are $14 for adults, $12 for students and seniors, and $8 in advance with a BearPass card.
