Springtime is an optimal time to get outside and explore. Ozarks Public Television (OPT) is partnering with the Missouri Department of Conservation and Ruby’s Market to encourage southwest Missouri families to “Explore the Outdoors” this spring.
Throughout April, OPT will celebrate Earth Month with themed on-air programming, online content and a special local event designed to encourage kids and families to explore the outdoors and discover nature.
On-air education
To celebrate Earth Month, PBS Kids will host special new episodes of “Nature Cat” through April 25 and “Wild Kratts” through April 28. Kids can continue their exploration online with outdoor-themed games, activities and videos available on PBSKIDS.org/outdoors and through the PBS KIDS Video App.
A community play day
A month filled with new PBS Kids programming is capped off with the Explore the Outdoors Community Wide Play Day April 29 from 10 a.m.-2 p.m. at Fassnight Park.
The Community Wide Play Day is an annual event hosted by the Community Partnership of the Ozarks and encouraging kids and families to welcome spring by getting outside and learning through play. This year, OPT will be participating with the Missouri Department of Conservation and offering tree adoption, nature investigations and more.
