Springfield is very unique in many ways. One of the most interesting things to learn about Springfield is that the weirder a food place looks, the better tasting it is. One of the best examples of this is Pineapple Whip. These are trailers painted bright yellow, have a dancing hula girl on top and are scattered throughout Springfield for the convenience of everyone. Pineapple Whip is a hybrid of ice cream, sherbet and sorbet. Plus it is only 150 calories!
Another perk is that Pineapple Whip limits the decisions you have to make at any other dessert place. First of all, they only have two flavors each time you go. They always have pineapple (of course) and the other flavor changes on a weekly rotation. These flavors include Mango-Peach, Strawberry-Kiwi, Grape, Orange, and Banana-Pomegranate (aka NanaGranate). You need to decide if you want just pineapple, just the flavor of the week or if you want a swirl of the two (my personal favorite). After picking a flavor, the only other decision you have to make is whether you want a cup or a cone.
The best part is that no matter what decisions you make, you only need $2.50 to enjoy this delicious treat. Pineapple Whip not only has a fun atmosphere, but I think it is a great tradition for Missouri State University students and families. My family members have thoroughly enjoyed getting to experience this tradition. Unfortunately Pineapple Whip is only open during the summer and will close on Saturday September 26th for this year. If you can’t make it before then, get excited for when it opens up next summer! Its well worth the wait, I promise.
