Many parents/guardians have wondered if they should be including their college student(s) on their US Census form because they are currently living at home due to the COVID-19 stay at home orders. According to the US Census office, college students should be counted where they “normally” would be living on April 1. For detailed information from the US Census office on counting college students, please visit https://www.census.gov/newsroom/press-releases/2020/modifying-2020-operations-for-counting-college-students.html?utm_campaign=20200315msc20s1ccnwsrs&utm_medium=email&utm_source=govdelivery.
MSU residence life office will be submitting our residence hall and fraternity/sorority life students through the electronic transfer of data as outline on this website from a date prior to when the university shifted to all online/alternative delivery of classes. The US Census office has a way to cross reference data to eliminate duplicates, so no worries if you have already counted them on your Census form.
