Welcome back to Learn with Livvie! We’re talking about Springfield, Missouri food today. Moving to a new place can come without knowing what restaurants are around here. Chances are you’ve googled, “food near me” and have no idea what to choose.
As a student, I have compiled a list of places I have personally gone to that are incredible. Luckily, Missouri State University is located in a convenient spot that’s close to some great options. ![]()
- If you’re craving a night on the town
At some point during your time in Springfield, Missouri, you will venture downtown. There are various food options to choose from, and they are all a quick drive or walk from campus.
My personal favorite restaurant downtown is by far Lucky Time. Lucky time is a locally own Chinese food restaurant located at 400 E Walnut St in Downtown Springfield, Missouri. It’s casual and tasty, while also being a cheap option for lunch and dinner.
For late night dining, at 107 Park Central Square, Civil Kitchen has chicken and waffles that are to die for. It’s locally owned and absolutely delicious.
- Brunch spots
Brunch (breakfast and lunch) will always been something I love. Now as a college student, it has become something that I have started to cherish even more. It can be a fun weekend outing with friends or family.
For your classic brunch vibe, Gailey’s Breakfast Cafe is a great choice. It’s located at 220 E Walnut Street. They have delicious sweet potato hashbrowns (it sounds interesting, but they’re amazing).
The Aviary by Lavender Falls is one of my favorite options and it’s about 18 minutes away from campus. They have the best crepes of all time. If you go on a Saturday, the Farmer’s Market of the Ozarks is right next to it, which is always a fun time. It’s also year-round!
- Best pizza in town
This had to be its own category because I care way too much about pizza. Pizza has become a key part of my life as a college student; it’s cheap, easy, and delicious. The best pizza I’ve ever had is at PaPPo’s Pizzeria. Everything is homemade and tastes so fresh. It’s a casual spot that is close to campus at 221 E Walnut St. My personal order is the Italian tomato and cheese; it’s like a Margherita pizza but better.
To end on an affordable note, Big Slice, located at 1454 E Sunshine St., is known for its thin New York style pizza. They have this $6 meal with a ginormous slice of pizza, garlic knots, and a drink. Safe to say, it has been an important part of my college experience.
I could talk about Springfield food all day long! These are just a few of the options that I have found delicious, convenient, and fun as a college student.
If you’re looking for a good evening with friends, late night dining, or a good brunch spot, here are some good places to start! Thanks for reading my Foodie Guide, and as always, GO BEARS!
