Finals week is here which means high stress levels and a buzzing campus. Whether you’re feeling the pressure of finals or creating a game plan for move-out, the last week of school is exhausting. It’s crucial to take care of yourself and leave time to relax during this period. Amid the chaos, remember that balance is key; finding moments to breathe and reset can make all the difference in how you finish the semester. Finals week is filled with ups and downs: here are some ways to make the best of it!
Schedule Break Times:
-Create a schedule for breaks; these brakes can be between finals or between study sessions. Taking breaks allows your brain to process the information you’ve been feeding it. Breaks give you time to stretch, grab a snack, and can help you feel re-energized when you return to studying. Taking regular breaks also helps prevent burnout and keeps your focus sharp, making your study sessions more productive.
Give Yourself Grace:
-Finals are not only stressful, but they’re also difficult, which is why you NEED to be patient with yourself. You might make mistakes and that’s okay; mistakes are how you grow. One bad final will not define your academic career; it simply means you are human. The more relaxed you are before taking a final, the clearer your brain will be, whereas if you’re spending that time worrying you might panic and second guess your abilities. You are more than capable of success even if it takes a few tries.
Reward Yourself:
-The last week of school means you’ve made it through the year, whether it be your first or your last. You made it through late nights, early mornings, complex projects, a fast-paced environment, and so much more. It’s time to reward yourself for your hard work. Grab a sweet treat with friends, watch a sunset at Bear Park North, or do some retail therapy. Rewarding yourself doesn’t have to be complicated, but it is necessary, be proud of everything you accomplished!
As finals week comes to a close, remember that success isn’t measured by grades, it’s also about how well you care for yourself along the way. By taking breaks, showing yourself grace, and celebrating your achievements, you’ll finish the semester stronger and more confident for what’s ahead!
