Starting college is an exciting time — and a big transition for both students and families. At Missouri State University, we want every new Bear to feel welcomed, connected, and confident from the very beginning. One of the best ways for students to start their journey is by participating in The Ursa Experience.

The Ursa Experience is a fun three-day program held just before the fall semester begins. It’s designed especially for incoming students and gives them the chance to meet other new Bears, connect with student leaders, and start feeling at home on campus before classes even start.
During Ursa, students are placed in small groups, with others from their residence hall, where they’ll get to know each other through activities, conversations, and shared experiences. Along the way, they’ll learn about Missouri State traditions, discover helpful campus resources, and build friendships that often last well beyond the first semester.
Many students tell us that Ursa helped them walk into their first day of class already knowing people and feeling like they belonged here. For families, it’s reassuring to know your student has already started building connections and getting comfortable with campus life.
College is about more than just classes — it’s about finding your community and beginning a new chapter. The Ursa Experience helps students take those first steps together in a welcoming and supportive environment.
