In early March the CDR hosted members of the Omaha Tribe for a training in Family Group Conferencing (FGC). The Omaha Tribe is a federally recognized Midwestern Native American tribe that resides in Nebraska. The tribe was the recipient of a federal grant which included funds to provide FGC services for at-risk youth and families on the reservation as a part of the Peacemaker Project. The training offered by the CDR focused on the conferencing skills and principles and also encouraged the adaptation of the process to the culture of the Omaha people. The CDR was appreciative of the opportunity to share our knowledge of the FGC process while at the same time learning about the history and culture of the Omaha.
