It’s that time of year again. Holiday music is playing everywhere and the decorations are up. Half of us are excited, and the other half are irritated on account of the season starting in early November. We can see Winter Break, the light at the end of the tunnel, but the tunnel seems longer than ever.
Here are a few of our favorite tips that just might prevent a nervous breakdown during this tense time:
- If possible, use a wired connection for all Internet-based exams, especially if you live off campus. On Blackboard, log out and back in before beginning a test. This should prevent the session from timing out in the middle of your exam.
(Tim Ewy, Centralized User Support Specialist) - Use a site blocker like Cold Turkey (for Windows) or Self Control (for Mac) to disable access to distracting websites for a set amount of time.
(Ryan Spilken, Technical Trainer) - Protect your hard work by saving early and often and saving to more than one location. Consider using an online storage solution instead of a flash drive.
(Brad Davidson, Centralized User Support Specialist) - For that big paper, Microsoft Word might save a few strands of hair. Here are guides for using the Bibliography tool:
Don’t forget to double-check it before turning in your final paper.
(Elise Haverstick, Training & Documentation Student Employee) - Note that your BearPrint allotment does not reset over Winter Break, so make sure to save yourself some prints for next semester. If you do run out, though, you can always purchase a voucher at the bookstore.
