In our last post, we discussed the importance of having a strong password and provided a couple of tips on how to improve your password security. You may now be wondering how you can protect your passwords from hackers and manage that information all in one secure place. One good way to manage your credentials and passwords is to use a password manager.
What is a Password Manager?
A password manager is a software application that allows you to store and manage your passwords and other private information all in one safe location. This can be incredibly useful because password managers are designed to encrypt the information that is stored in their vault, secure that information with the help of a master password, and allow you to manage all of your information wherever the application is available.
Why Should You Consider Using a Password Manager?
- Encourages the use of strong and unique passwords – By eliminating the need to remember every password you create/write passwords down, password managers allow you to create stronger and more complex passwords all while providing an efficient way to manage that information.
- Gives you access to your information across multiple devices – Many password managers allow you to sync their information across multiple platforms including mobile and PC.
- Generates random passwords and keep track of them for you – Password managers have the ability to create random passwords that you can use for various accounts.
