With smartphones and other mobile devices growing in popularity amongst people all over the world, security for mobile devices is more important now than ever before. This post will focus on what mobile security is and provide a couple of ways to help you protect your mobile device.
Why is mobile security important?
Mobile security is important because consumers rely on their mobile devices more than they have in previous years. Because of this, your mobile device may contain sensitive data that should be protected. This includes things like your name, passwords, address, etc.
Ways to protect your mobile device:
- Use a security code to lock your device: The most important thing you can do to protect your mobile device and keep your private information out of someone else’s hands is to have a security code set on your device. Many vendors have created convenient ways such as the Touch ID and facial recognition features to lock your device.
- Utilize device locating features: Enabling location features such as Find My iPhone on your mobile device can help you locate, track, and identify your device if it is ever lost or stolen.
- Be aware of the apps you install & the permissions you give them: Before you download a new app, you should do a quick search on the internet to make sure that the app is legitimate and safe to use. Pay attention to the permission requests that some apps may require as well. If you feel that the permission requests from an app are intrusive to your privacy, do not accept them.
