Improvements in wireless networking technology have made Wi-Fi networks fast, easily accessible, and widely available. There are, however, important security issues to consider when using wireless networks. This post will focus on some of the important security concerns regarding wireless networks and provide some tips on how to safely use them.
Ways to stay safe on wireless networks
- Be careful where you connect: Do not connect to a wireless network or a mobile hot spot if you not familiar with its origin.
- Be sure to use the highest level of security with your wireless network: When setting up your wireless network at home, ensure that you are using the highest level of security. Using the WPA2 standard is ideal when setting up your wireless network.
- Be mindful of what you access on an unsecured network: If you don’t have to enter a key or a password to access a wireless network, then it is unsecured. These networks more likely to be exploited by a hacker than those that do require a password or key. This could result in a hacker eavesdropping on your activity in order to steal your information.
