Dr. Beth Bowles, research specialist at the Missouri State University Bull Shoals Field Station, received a $22,720 subaward from the Okahoma Water Resources Board (OWRB) through Oklahoma State University.
“I am working with Andy Dzialowski at Oklahoma State University to identify plankton samples from lakes and rivers in Oklahoma for the OWRB,” said Bowles. “My role will be to identify the algae in the samples and estimate their size.”
The OWRB will use the information to assess water quality and watch for problem species such as blue-green bacteria that can produce toxins.
For more information, contact Bowles at (417) 836-3731.
