The College of Natural and Applied Sciences at Missouri State presented its annual faculty and staff awards at a ceremony May 9. The recipients were nominated by their peers or department heads and selected by a faculty committee.

CNAS Excellence Award – Staff Award Winners
- Tricia Yarckow, hospitality and restaurant administration
- Joni Durden, biology
John Havel, biology, received the Atwood Research and Teaching Award, which is funded by an endowment by Jerry Atwood. Havel is an internationally known research scholar in plankton ecology, biological assessment of water quality and biological invasions of aquatic communities. He will receive a certificate and $1,000 to be spent over the next year on students, research supplies, summer salary or travel. The money will be available at the beginning of the fall semester of 2012.
In addition to these awards, students from the college were able to nominate and select a series of faculty to receive Faculty Excellence Awards.
