Engineering alumni and others help current students

They provide meals and scholarships to current students.

Food and scholarships are probably two of college students’ favorite things. At the least, they’re pretty helpful for survival.

The Ozarks Chapter Insitute of Transportation Engineers (OCITE) is a professional society for engineers who work in the transportation industry that value students.

OCITE has monthly meetings with up to 40 people in attendance.

The benefits of OCITE on campus

On Oct. 26, the Missouri State engineering program hosted the meeting on campus.

Civil engineering students attended, and OCITE provided lunch for students.

Annually, OCITE also sponsors several scholarships for students, especially since many members are MSU alumni.

Dr. Doug Carroll, engineering program director, says there are a lot of jobs in Missouri for civil engineers.

“This meeting is a good opportunity for students to network with people who are in a position to hire them,” Carroll said.
