Fall Break will be here in just under three weeks. I encourage you to continue the goal that I challenged you with last year – save one student from dropping or failing your class.
An extra note of encouragement to your students might be what they need. Listening carefully to your students might help you learn that they need resources like food, counseling or time management help. The Bear Pantry, our Counseling Center or a success coach might be just what they need. If you do not know how to connect them with these resources – please contact the Dean’s office and we will send you the information.
If you hear that a student has made no connections on campus during these first several weeks of the semester, please let Dr. Rebaza know and our student success staff will contact them immediately to get them connected in their home department, with a student organization, with a study group or a mentor.

This is a great opportunity for the students to develop and showcase their research communication skills, and generate public interest in their research. Top four (up to) selected students will participate in the university-wide 3MT competition. See attached flyer on Why You Should Try 3MT! Prepare for the Brightspace Transition
All faculty will have access to Brightspace beginning Monday, October 16. This access includes a sandbox course, where you can learn the system and explore its capabilities while participating in training. After October 16, you can use the class dashboard to request a source course for building your courses. Faculty who want to use Brightspace in Spring 2024 can attend training sessions this fall. During the spring semester, there will be trainings for faculty who plan to begin using Brightspace in Fall 2024. On-demand resources are currently in development; these resources will be available within the Brightspace platform to assist faculty as they’re in the process of building their courses. All Missouri State courses will be transitioned and live in the Brightspace system by May 13, 2024.
