October 14, 2015 by Trysta Herzog

MSU-COAL-Homecoming-MasterClass-SusanHiland-EmailPicBefore the parade marches through town and the football team takes the field, College of Arts and Letters will host its annual master class series on Oct. 16 as part of its Homecoming event schedule.

Susan Hiland (BS, 1981) will be among those presenters

On screen across the nation

Hiland, an Emmy award-winning journalist, graduated from Missouri State with a degree in speech and electronic media. She co-anchors FOX 4 News at 5 and 9 p.m., and has worked at WDAF-TV since 2000. Before that, she was the morning anchor at WTNH-TV in New Haven, Connecticut, and worked at news stations across the Midwest.

Well-traveled alumna takes volunteer vacations

A Kansas City native, Hiland graduated from Oak Park High School and was inducted into the school’s Hall of Fame. Hiland travels in her spare time, especially for volunteer vacations. She has traveled to Nepal, Kenya and Brazil where she has worked with underprivileged women and children.

When will she present at Homecoming?

Date: Oct. 16
Time: 12:45 to 2:00 p.m.
