At the beginning of the semester, COAL rolled out a new promotional video. It not only helped introduce new interim dean, Dr. Shawn Wahl, but also offered an opportunity to present our core values — the skills that unite all programs within the college.
Focusing on skills including problem solving, collaboration, writing and cultural competence highlighted the professional preparation all seven COAL departments provide.
“Our students are learning a core set of skills that not only help them get jobs after graduation but prepare them for long-term career success.” — Dr. Shawn Wahl
Distribution and results
We chose to roll out this video on COAL’s Facebook page two weeks before the beginning of the academic year. It felt like the perfect way to share our excitement about having all students and faculty back on campus, and we believed this video would be particularly meaningful for our Facebook audience.
“Our Core Values” quickly became COAL’s most popular piece of Facebook content while also maintaining a high engagement rate.
This post has currently reached more than 3,700 people, and more than 45% of this audience has viewed all or part of the video. Of those who’ve viewed, more than 7% have gone further and engaged through likes, comments and/or shares.
We’re pleased that this video presents an authentic vision of COAL, and one that resonates with our students, faculty, staff and alumni.
