Dr. Shawn Wahl, the dean of the Reynolds College of Arts and Letters, commissioned the promotional video “Once Upon a Time” to showcase the variety of distinguished programs offered by the department of English. The video was filmed on location in Siceluff Hall and local business Pagination Bookshop, which is co-owned by English instructor Jennifer Murvin. From English education to creative writing, this features some of the many paths English students have available to them through the knowledge of writing.
Head of the English department, Dr. Linda Moser, said “Our goal was to feature our bright, talented, and hard-working students and to convey their passion for language, literature, and writing. Most students choose to study English because they love to read and write as a means of engaging different perspectives and exploring ways of being in the world. Studying English is to understand that creativity and practical skills go hand in hand. Critical thinking, effective writing, organizing and interpreting content, and the ability to engage with people who hold different points of view are all valuable skills that allow our students to contribute to our communities”.
