Let us keep you in the loop about CODERS and all things CWCCC! Our newsletters, which are sent out on the first of each month, include up-to-date information about CODERS events, as well as writing and teaching-related opportunities for both teachers and students! We’ve recently switched newsletter services; visit our newsletters page to ensure you’re subscribedand check out our fall editions of CODERS: In the Loop.

As we approach the end of the year, we invite you to reflect on the things that you’re most proud of accomplishing in 2025. We’re so proud of our progress and thankful for everyone who has helped us accomplish our 2025 goals.  We’re excited for what 2026 holds—so you may be wondering…what’s in store for 2026?

  • CODERS Workshop: If you’re interested in participating in a CODERS workshop in 2026, whether you’re new to the program or returning, please let us know by completing this interest form. 
  • Summer Invitational Institute: The Institute provides and promotes writing instruction for teachers of all grade levels and content areas. $750 stipends will be available to those who are selected after applying (must be enrolled in ENG 730 for graduate credit).
  • Summer Youth Writing Camps: We will be hosting Youth Writing Camps this summer! If you’d like to be a mentor or propose a workshop topic of interest, please let us know through this form.

Write to Learn: Conference & Presentation Opportunity

This spring, Missouri Writing Projects Network is hosting Write to Learn on April 9th & 10th, 2026 in Columbia, Missouri. Write to Learn is an annual language arts conference open to teachers of all grade levels. The event features full-day workshops, keynote speakers, breakout sessions and more focused on language arts pedagogy. Register for the conference here!

The conference is taking submissions for breakout session proposals until November 21, 2025 via this google form. You must include your topic proposal for the session, the description of this idea, potential features of the presentation, and the intended audience.

The conference committee will review your proposal and inform you of its status on December 15, 2025. If selected, you will be granted a $100 stipend per presentation session.

The costs to attend are listed below:

  • $289 for the Full 2 Day Conference
  • $189 for only One Day (Thursday or Friday)

 

Tell your “Pixar” Story

Tell you and your students CODERS story. Tell a Pixar Story.

Try out this form and share a draft of your story. Use this link with your students as well. 

Once upon a time there was ___.

Every day, [the students, the teacher, whoever the story is about].

Because of that, ___.

Until finally ___.

After you write your story, take a few minutes to edit. Jen and I used this template to write her spotlight. She told the story, I took dictation for her, and then edited out the “once upon a time.”

This could be a partner exercise to begin or end a class. Tell the students they will be published! Send your stories in. We will edit, send back to you, and publish. Group of people working together at a table with another group in the background

Lesson Reflections: What Stories Do They Tell?

After completing a CODERS lesson, you will reflect on those lessons. We collected reflections last year. Some of you may remember Dr. Davis asking for those. Take a moment to review the lesson reflections. Click through and view the reflections for each of the lessons/concepts.
