I saw Horrible Bosses in theaters a few months back and it was a funny and enjoyable movie that was really set apart by the 3 leads of Jason Bateman (Arrested Development), Jason Sudeikis (Saturday Night Live), and Charlie Day (It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia). Charlie Day and Jason Sudeikis have a great screen chemistry which they developed while filming Going the Distance together and Jason Bateman delivers his usual sarcastic straight-man routine. Charlie Day really stole the film for me with the high energy, high pitched performance he’s mastered on being the most consistently funny part of Always Sunny. That’s not to take anything away from the titular horrible bosses either, played by Kevin Spacy, Jennifer Aniston, and Colin Farrell.
“For Nick (Jason Bateman), Kurt (Jason Sudeikis) and Dale (Charlie Day), the only thing that would make the daily grind more tolerable would be to grind their intolerable bosses (Kevin Spacey, Colin Farrell, Jennifer Aniston) into dust. Quitting is not an option, so, with the benefit of a few-too-many drinks and some dubious advice from a hustling ex-con (Jamie Foxx), the three friends devise a convoluted and seemingly foolproof plan to rid themselves of their respective employers… permanently. There’s only one problem: even the best laid plans are only as foolproof as the brains behind them. — (C) Warner Bros” – Rotten Tomatoes
The film had some critical and financial success, pulling in over $117 million at the box office and a 69% fresh rating on Rotten Tomatoes. The consensus for the film is:
“It’s nasty, uneven, and far from original, but thanks to a smartly assembled cast that makes the most of a solid premise, Horrible Bosses works.” – Rotten Tomatoes
Catch Horrible Bosses Wednesday, December 7th and Sunday, December 11th at 9 PM in the PSU Theater.
