A renovation project for Cheek Hall is underway and will require the closure of significant portions of the building beginning June 30, 2025, through December 31, 2026. The contractor will use the north side of the building as the construction entrance and material storage area. The north entrance and classrooms on the first floor will be closed during the entire project. The project will be separated into two phases:
- The first phase is underway and will continue until Spring of 2026. The areas closed during the first phase will include the entire basement, the east side of the first floor, and the entire mezzanine. The south (main) entrance will be closed during this phase.
- The second phase will begin in the Spring of 2026 and be completed by the end of 2026. The areas closed during the second phase will include the west side of the first floor and the north side of the second floor.
Both elevators in the building will be accessible during construction. Signs will be posted indicating temporary egress paths and accessible routes. The renovation will provide new offices for faculty and staff in the building, create state-of-the-art teaching and research labs, better organize the circulation and wayfinding, address deferred maintenance, and create student collaboration spaces throughout Cheek Hall.
