With the spring semester halfway over, the fall semester is already just around the corner- and with it comes the FCTL’s annual Faculty Showcase on Teaching and Learning! The Showcase is hosted to share and promote innovative and impactful teaching methods from our MSU faculty. This event provides a place for faculty to present their accomplishments, advancements, and practices in all things teaching and learning, and offers many fulfilling and valuable experiences to those who attend. To get you excited for the 2025 Showcase on August 13, 2025, here’s a quick list of some things you can look forward to!
1) An Exciting and Engaging Keynote Speaker

With AI quickly becoming a prevalent fixture in our society, its functions in the classroom have become impossible for educators to ignore. If you’re feeling unsure or hesitant with how to proceed in the face of the AI revolution, this year’s Showcase could be the answer you’ve been looking for. The keynote speaker for this year’s event is Dr. Sidney Dobrin, one of the world’s most sought after experts on Generative AI. Dr. Dobrin will be leading a workshop at the event in the morning, and speaking during the luncheon in the middle of the day. Through these sessions, Dr. Dobrin will share his wisdom on handling AI in higher education, and provide a hands-on experience in integrating AI effectively and responsibly in assignment design and curricula. You won’t want to miss this expert’s insight into how we can handle, respond to, and integrate AI in our classrooms!
2) Sharing Your Own Discoveries
While the Showcase is proud to host a very exciting keynote speaker, there are also slots for equally exciting faulty presenters throughout the day. The Showcase is primarily a collaborative venue for faculty to share ideas, advancements, and accomplishments in teaching and learning, and we want to hear from you! This could look like a lot of things—new or original teaching strategies, interactive learning and engagement processes, technology usage and integration in the classroom, or any of the other thousands of ways you innovate and evolve in your classroom. Big or small, broad or specific, the Showcase is the perfect place for you to share your own advancements and discoveries in the world of teaching and learning!
If you’re interested in presenting at the Showcase this year, you must submit a proposal to the FCTL before the deadline. The FCTL is accepting proposals for Showcase 2025 until March 31, 2025. To find more information or submit a proposal, follow the links at the bottom of this post.
3) A Vibrant and Diverse Range of Faculty Connections
The Showcase is open to all MSU faculty, and presenters often come from a variety of colleges and schools. At Showcase 2025, you can look forward to meeting and hearing from faculty from all across campus, each with their own expertise and projects. Not only is it beneficial to hear from the perspectives of these faculty members from a professional perspective, but it can also help you form interdepartmental connections with faculty who you may not get the chance to know otherwise. The Showcase presents a unique opportunity for you to interact and get connected with this diverse range of faculty and build long-lasting relationships with other passionate members of our MSU community!
