Dr. Stacy Rice Awarded Igniting Opportunity 2025-2026 Implementation Award

May 5, 2026 by Hailey J. Maples

Dr. Stacy Rice and “The QM Master Award”

Last week, the FCTL’s very own Dr. Stacy Rice was awarded the Igniting Opportunity 2025-2026 Implementation award! The Igniting Opportunity awards were presented to only 25 individuals campus-wide in recognition of their work furthering any of the five goals of Missouri State University’s strategic plan. Each awardee was given their own award title in recognition of their specific contributions.

Dr. Rice’s award, “The QM Master Award,” was given to her in appreciation of her extensive work with Quality Matters (QM), a premiere quality assurance organization that assists university faculty in improving the conception, design, and presentation of their courses to improve student learning outcomes and experience. In addition to completing extensive QM certifications, Dr. Rice has worked with faculty in MSU to employ QM standards to review and improve their online courses, important work that has gone on to impact the learning experience of countless students.

Spring 2026 FLCs Share Their Work

May 5, 2026 by Hailey J. Maples

A faculty member presents insights from their FLC

Last Friday, the spring 2026 faculty learning communities (FLCs) met to share key insights from their group discussions and activities at the FLC Collective Contribution Brunch. During this event, faculty members from many different communities presented projects and takeaways from their semester-long engagement in an FLC. Among the innovative projects shared were a project on critical judgement of AI application (including when and how to use AI), a project that created a discipline-specific prompt library for educators utilizing AI tools, and a project on AI-assisted syllabus creation, as well as many other fascinating work that faculty members across the colleges have completed over the course of the semester.

Thank you to all who participated in FLCs this semester and attended to event to share and learn with other faculty members! If you weren’t able to join an FLC this semester or missing the brunch, don’t worry—the innovations and contributions from the FLCs will be shared on the FCTL Academic Community in Brightspace so that the broader campus community can access and learn from them. Stay tuned to this Brightspace community to find these informative resources when they are posted, and subscribe to this blog to be notified when FLC opportunities for next semester become available!
