There’s only two weeks left until the Spring Scholarship Summit, and the FCTL is in full swing setting up for the event. To get you as excited to stop by the event as we are, here’s a quick list of three things you can look forward to at the Spring Scholarship Summit this year!
1) Interesting and Engaging Presentations
This year’s event boasts an impressive thirteen presentations from over 20 faculty members on a diverse range of topics. These presentations come from departments and fields all across campus, and with such a varied topic range, there is sure to be something interesting for every attendee. This diverse assortment of subjects means that attendees will not only get to learn something from their own field or an adjacent one, but will also get to hear interesting information from areas that they may not be engaged in, furthering campus connections and opening the door to interdepartmental collaboration. 2) An Open House Format That Doesn’t Demand All of Your Time
This point in the semester is hectic for everyone, and it can be difficult to carve out time to attend events amongst at the other responsibilities faculty assume. Luckily, the Summit is an open house style event, meaning you have full freedom to come and go as is convenient for you. The relaxed atmosphere inviting faculty to engage with the presentations at their leisure enables you to dictate your involvement according to what works for you. If you find that only a few of the presentations are catching your attention, the Summit is the perfect place to stop by and learn a little without committing to major time engagement. Whether you have time to stay at the event from the beginning until the end or you only have fifteen minutes to spare in between engagements, you are welcome to drop by at any point for however long works for you!
3) Free Food!
The Summit offers free hors d’oeuvres for attendees to enjoy while they chat and explore the poster presentations. A table at the event will offer these hors d’oeuvres for any who are interested to pick up and take with them as they move around. Attendees will be able to enjoy delicious treats while they browse the Summit – and who doesn’t love to snack a little while they learn?
