Continuing our Showcase Spotlight Series this week is a panel of MSU faculty and affiliates who will be presenting at the Showcase on the increasingly important topic of AI!
The panel members for this presentation are comprised of a variety of faculty and MSU affiliates from different areas involving writing. These panel members are:
- John Turner, Senior Instructor in the English Department
- Dr. Cynthia Johnson, Assistant Professor and Director of Composition in the English Department
- Dr. Jonathan Newman, Associate Professor and Director of Graduate Studies in the English Department
- Michael Frizell, Director of Student Learning Services
- Dr. Judy Tarbox, Senior Instructor and Assistant Department Head in the English Department
- Bob Lynch, Dual Credit Faculty Member
- David Brockway, English Graduate Student
This diverse group of faculty members have spent the Spring 2025 semester meeting in a Faculty Learning Community (FLC) focused on the discussion of the impact of AI on college writing. This FLC, entitled Rethinking College Writing in an AI Era, encouraged faculty members to meet and discuss the effects of AI and the place it will hold in their classrooms, and was facilitated by John Turner and Dr. Cynthia Johnson. At the Showcase, this faculty panel will be presenting details on the intriguing discussions had by this FLC over the past semester. Come listen to these fantastic presenters to gain greater insight into how our MSU community is handling these new tools and their use in higher education!
