Continuing our Showcase Spotlight Series this week are two faculty members from the School of Mental Health and Behavioral Science: Kristen Thompson and Sara Wilson!

Kristen Thompson, Assistant Professor in the School of Mental Health and Behavioral Science, and Sara Wilson, Assistant Professor in the School of Mental Health and Behavioral Science, will be presenting at the Showcase this year on the usage of Universal Design for Learning (UDL) and Trauma-Informed Practices (TIPs) as an integrated framework to create inclusive, supportive, and safe learning environments. Through this session, attendees will learn to recognize UDL as a trauma-informed approach to course design through the demonstration of proactive strategies to enhance accessibility and engagement, reducing academic stress and creating space for students to persist through challenges. Participants in this session will learn practical strategies for integrating UDL and TIPs into teaching, providing valuable information that educators may use to create more supportive and proactive learning environments for students in their classrooms.
